Maintaining a Safe, Clean, and Hygienic Guest Facility

Objective

To ensure bathrooms are consistently sanitary, odour-free, well-stocked, and presentable, protecting both brand reputation and public health.

Step-by-Step Cleaning Process

1. Preparation

  • Wear Gloves.

  • Place Wet Floor Sign: Before entering.

  • Ensure bathroom is empty: Politely wait if occupied.


2. General Surface Cleaning

  • Empty bin: Replace liner, wipe bin inside/out with disinfectant.

  • Clean sink and countertop:

    • Use blue cloth + disinfectant spray.

    • Scrub faucets, soap dispensers, and counters.

  • Clean mirror:

    • Use glass cleaner and clean cloth or paper towel.

  • Wipe walls and door handles:

    • Pay attention to high-touch surfaces (door push plates, locks, taps).


3. Toilet & Urinal Cleaning (Use Red Cloths Only)

For each toilet/urinal:

  1. Flush before cleaning.

  2. Apply toilet bowl cleaner inside the bowl and under the rim.

  3. Scrub with toilet brush – let it sit for recommended contact time.

  4. Spray exterior (seat, lid, base) with BS EN 1276 disinfectant.

  5. Wipe clean and dry using red disposable cloth.

  6. Wipe flush handle/button.

📌 Use separate cloths for each toilet to avoid cross-contamination.


4. Floors

  • Sweep debris and litter.

  • Mop with floor disinfectant, paying extra attention to corners and under sinks.

  • Leave wet floor sign until fully dry.


5. Restock & Reset

  • Toilet paper

  • Paper towels

  • Soap dispenser (top up, don’t refill over dirt)

  • Air freshener (if used)

  • Check that lights, locks, flushes, taps all work.


🚫 Don't Forget

  • Never use kitchen cloths or mops in the restroom.

  • Always wash hands thoroughly after bathroom cleaning.
