This article will explain how and why rider wait time is tracked, and tips for reducing it. Unsure where to check your metric reports? Read our guide
Rider wait time is measured as the percentage of orders where the rider waits more than 5 minutes to collect the food.
We track this because if a rider is waiting, the customer usually is too. Waiting more than 5 minutes beyond the app estimate increases the chance of a negative review - this will impact your ratings and sales.
To reduce rider wait time:
Prep food within 12–15 minutes of the order coming in
Encourage riders to tap ‘Accept order’ on their app - this helps with tracking
Build a 30-minute break into your peak trading hours by changing your opening hours (no need to pause your menu)
